Material and craft drive the design behind Ardoa, a Basque restaurant and wine bar at the base of a tower at Greenwich Peninsula. Our first commercial interior fit-out project with time/budget constraints that demanded cost effective solutions with an injection of colour, texture and personality. Insertion of a mezzanine, steel staircase and tiny commercial grade kitchen make this compact space functional. A palette derived from raw-materials-transformed such as terracotta and naked gypsum plaster, along side simple tessellated surfaces in mesh and perforated bricks as modern alternatives to traditional tiling.
